IS claims responsibility for Egypt’s attack

The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the Friday attack on a bus carrying Coptic Christians in Egypt's Minya district, which killed 29 people.

In a statement released on Saturday, IS said a group of its militants set up a checkpoint to attack dozens of Coptic Christians travelling to the monastery of Saint Samuel in western Minya. The Egyptian military said their fighter jets have carried out strikes and destroyed several camps, where the fighters were trained for the attack. Local media said the strike campaign took place in Derna city in eastern Libya.
