Mekong Delta economic zone seeks socioeconomic development

Four members of the Mekong Delta economic zone discussed a cooperation plan for socioeconomic development by 2020 at their first conference in Can Tho city on Tuesday.

The zone comprises Can Tho city and An Giang, Kien Giang, and Ca Mau province. Participants discussed plans for sustainable socioeconomic development, adaptation to climate change, and regional water management. They said they hope to work together on an infrastructure project in the Long Xuyen Quadruple area. They also defined a regional connectivity mechanism for planning, production, and socioeconomic development.
