National Assembly Chairwoman receives Japanese guests

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan expressed her pleasure at the fine development in relations between Vietnam and Japan during her reception of Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko in Hanoi on Wednesday.

She praised the time-honored historical ties, cultural similarities and common interests, saying that she was grateful for Japanese support in Vietnam's social economic development and major projects, including the Can Tho Bridge. Both agreed on the need to promote environmental protection for better public health and life and shared their views on the importance of education in national development. The Emperor thanked the Vietnamese leaders and people's warm welcome during the visit he had expected for a long time while wishing for more bilateral friendship cooperation.
