Poor people receive aid for Tet celebration

Poor workers, families, and children nationwide have received financial support to welcome Tet, Vietnam's Lunar New Year festival.

Hai Phong earmarked 55,000 USD for local poor workers. The Hai Phong economic zone gave gifts to 3,600 workers and arranged 40 free buses to take them home. The local trade union hosted an event for 3,600 workers from local industrial and economic zones.

In Quang Tri province, gifts worth nearly 300,000 USD were given to 33,000 families of war heroes and policy beneficiaries. Provincial authorities at all levels provided 1,500 tons of rice to 30,000 families in especially disadvantaged circumstances. Private philanthropists and businesses donated 680,000 USD to local poor families.

2,000 poor children enjoyed New Year greetings, music performances, and gifts at an event held by the Youth Union in Ho Chi Minh city.
