President calls for greater unity for nation’s prosperity

Vietnam will continue to mobilize the power of the entire political system and people in the battle against corruption, said State President Tran Dai Quang when answering reporters' questions on Vietnam's socio-economic development, challenges and opportunities. President Quang stressed that the fight against corruption and wastefulness is tough and the rule of law must be upheld. He said Vietnam overcame many challenges in 2016.

Though GDP grew below the set target, Vietnam still posted one of the highest economic growth rates in the region. Social security has been ensured, people living standards improved, political and social stability maintained, national defense and security strengthened, and national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity safeguarded. Party building has seen encouraging progress while Vietnam's status in the global arena has been taken up a notch. President Tran Dai Quang reiterated Vietnam's external policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, development, multilateralization and diversification. The President called on Vietnamese people around the world to unite for Vietnam's prosperity, and expressed his confidence in the entire nation's determination and consensus to make the country stronger and more developed.
