President Trump suspends part of Cuba embargo

US President Donald Trump on Saturday signed a suspension decree of a provision of the US embargo on Cuba for another six months.

Accordingly, the Trump administration will keep suspending a provision of the Helms-Burton Act that let Americans use US courts to sue non-American companies that operate and deal with property confiscated after 1959. It's the latest sign that President Donald Trump is not fully reversing President Barack Obama's opening of relations with Cuba.

The Helms-Burton Act, or The Cuban Liberty and Democratic Solidarity Act, is considered the most extreme legalization tool in the US embargo systems against Cuba. During his two terms, President Barack Obama repeatedly suspended the lawsuit provision for six months.
