Russia responds to new US deployment in Poland

The Kremlin said on Thursday that the Russian military is closely tracking US plans to beef up its forces in Poland and is taking steps to ensure that Russia's national security is not weakened by what Moscow regards as a betrayal of trust.

The headquarters structures that will be set up in Poland under this reinforcement will pose a much greater threat, the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement, adding that Russia sees in this signs of preparation for further large-scale deployments.

A joint US-Polish declaration said drones of a US Air Force squadron, MQ-9, would also be deployed to Poland. On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump promised Polish President Andrzej Duda that the US will soon deploy 1,000 more troops from Germany to Poland.
