Russia warns of possible global disaster following termination of START-3
Chairman of the Russian State Duma Defense Committee Vladimir Shamanov on Monday warned of the danger of terminating START-3, the last treaty on reducing strategic nuclear weapons signed by Moscow and Washington.
At a press conference in Moscow, Shamanov said the termination could lead to a global disaster. He accused the US of ignoring international norms when it decided last year not to extend START-3.
In January, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he hopes the US will show some responsibility in discussing vital strategic issues with Russia.
