South Korean officials consider air route through Korean peninsula

The South Korean National Security Council met Thursday to check the progress of implementing the Panmunjom Declaration signed by the leaders of the two Koreas, particularly follow-up measures to recent inter-Korean talks on aviation cooperation.

Last Friday Seoul and Pyongyang raised the idea of opening a direct cross-border air route. Official of the two Koreas are scheduled to meet on Friday to modernize direct phone lines and other communications channels through Panmunjom.
