Trump’s travel ban takes effect

US President Donald Trump's ban on travelers from six Muslim countries took effect on Friday following a Supreme Court ruling earlier on the week.

The court also approved a 120-day ban on refugees entering the US, which allows the government to bar entry to any refugee who cannot prove a valid relationship to an American individual or entity. It defines a close family relationship as parent, spouse, child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, sibling, or step-family relation.

Trump called the court ruling a clear victory for national security. The Department of Homeland Security said it will implement the ban professionally, with clear and sufficient public notice.
