US, China to resume trade talks this week

Deputy trade negotiators for the United States and China will meet in Washington beginning on Thursday, a spokesman for the US Trade Representative's office said Monday.

A spokesman for US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer said US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will meet with China's top negotiator, Vice Premier Liu He, in early October.

US President Donald Trump delayed an increase in punitive duties on 250 billion USD worth of Chinese goods for two weeks at the request of China's Vice Premier Liu He.

China has announced that it will temporarily exempt 16 US products from tariffs on Tuesday, saying these exemptions will last for one year.
