US, Chinese Presidents to meet at G20

US President Donald Trump said he will meet his Chinese counterpart in the G20 Summit in Japan later this month. He added trade talks will restart ahead of their meeting.

President Trump said Tuesday on Twitter that he had had a very good phone conversation with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. The two leaders will hold an extended meeting on the sideline of the G20 summit on June 28-29 in Osaka and their respective teams will begin talks prior to the meeting.

The US and China are in a costly trade war, putting pressure on markets and damaging the world economy. Negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict broke off last month after Washington accused Beijing of backing out of its commitment to carry out structural economic changes. Since then, communication between the two sides has been limited.
