US Senate passes 4.5 billion USD emergency aid to address border crisis

The US Senate on Wednesday passed an emergency funding bill worth 4.5 billion USD to address the migrant crisis at its southern border with Mexico.

The Republican-controlled Senate voted 84 to 8 for the bill, which will allocate nearly 3 billion USD for the Health and Human Services Department's program to house unaccompanied migrant children, allowing it to expand its capacity. The vote came a day after the House of Representatives passed a measure authorizing 4.5 billion USD in aid.
