Venezuelan government and opposition launch dialogue

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and representatives of right-wing major opposition party Democratic Unity Coalition (MUD) met on Sunday to begin a dialogue aimed at easing high-running tensions and solving the political and economic crisis in Venezuela.

The talks involved President Maduro and some representatives from the government and the oppositions with the mediation by the Vatican and the South American regional bloc UNASUR.

The same day, Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli, the Vatican envoy, opened a meeting calling for "concrete outcomes" to come out of the meeting in order to show the goodwill of both sides to seek for solution to the crisis in Venezuela.
