Vietnam celebrates World Health Day

The Ministry of Health held a meeting in Hanoi on Sunday to promote Vietnam's Health Program and honor young Vietnamese physicians on the occasion of World Health Day, April 7.

The WHO's theme for World Health Day 2019 is Universal Health Coverage: everyone, everywhere to ensure that everyone can access healthcare services.

Vietnam intends to enhance primary healthcare by rallying social resources. Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said: Vietnam's health sector has met 80% of people's essential health treatment demand, which is relatively high in the region according to the WHO. Vietnam can produce many vaccines under the expanded vaccination program. 87.5% of the population have health insurance cards, which is higher than the target set by the National Assembly and the government.
