Vietnam, Hungary to upgrade ties to comprehensive partnership
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong says his visit to Hungary aims to deepen the traditional relations and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
Mr. Trong made the statement at a meeting with the Vietnamese Embassy staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Hungary on Sunday. He added that during the visit both sides will upgrade bilateral ties to a comprehensive partnership, and set out new directions to create positive and more practical changes in economics, trade, investment, education, defense, and development cooperation between the two countries.
The Party chief said he hopes that every Vietnamese in Hungary will work to forge closer ties between the two countries, contribute more to national construction and development, and promote national identity.
At a Sunday reception for Chairman of the Hungarian Socialist Party Toth Bertalan , Mr. Trong called on the Socialist Party to continue its support for developing ties between Vietnam and Hungary and help the Vietnamese community integrate into Hungarian society.
Mr. Toth said the Socialist Party, the largest opposition Party in the Hungarian Parliament, will always be a close, loyal friend of the Communist Party of Vietnam, boosting the good relationship between the two Parties. He said he believes Mr. Trong's visit to Hungary will open wider the door for Hungary to develop ties with Southeast Asian countries and for Vietnam to expand its relationship with Europe.
