Vietnam, US develop cooperation in security and law enforcement

– Minister of Public Security To Lam has affirmed that Vietnam considers the US one of its top partners and wishes to promote their Comprehensive Partnership in bilateral, regional, and global aspects on the basis of respecting each other’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and political institutions, for peace, stability, cooperation, and prosperity in the region. Receiving US Ambassador to Vietnam Mark Knapper on Wednesday in Hanoi, Minister To Lam suggested that Ambassador Knapper promote specialized cooperation between the two countries’ security agencies through exchanging and sharing strategic information on issues of mutual concern and develop annual dialogue mechanism between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the US National Security Council.

To strengthen law enforcement cooperation, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam wishes to boost cooperation with the US in cyber security, particularly the defensive aspect of cyber security.

Ambassador Knapper affirmed the developing cooperation between the two countries and expressed his belief that the relationship between the US agencies and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security will continue contributing to enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
