Vietnam welcomes 8.5 million foreign visitors so far in 2019

Close to 8.5 million foreigners visited Vietnam in the first half of this year, a rise of 7.5 percent year on year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

To meet the target of welcoming 18 million foreign visitors this year, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has launched promotion events in key markets since the beginning of this year. In June, the Administration attended the Beijing International Tourism Expo in China. Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien is chairing a roadshow featuring Vietnamese tourism and a Vietnam culturetourism festival in South Korea. The tourism industry hopes next year to attract 20 million foreign visitors and earn revenues of 35 billion USD.
