Vietnam wins two golds at 2019 Shuttlecock World Championships

Vietnam has claimed two gold medals at the ongoing Shuttlecock World Championships in France.

Ho Phuoc Sang from the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap beat his Chinese rival 2-0 in the men's singles to reclaim the title he won two years ago in Hong Kong.

Vietnamese duo Tran Ngoc Hai and Trinh Thi Nga defeated a Chinese pair in the semi-final and a Hong Kong pair in the mixed doubles final.

Tran Ngoc Hai said: Before the match against the Chinese team I thought I couldn't participate in the competition, but thanks to the help of my comrades and doctors, I played pretty well. In the second game against the rival from Hong Kong, I felt easier.

On Friday, Vietnamese players will continue to compete in men's and women's doubles.

This year's tournament drew 15 teams, all members of the International Shuttlecock Federation.
