Vietnamese student wins Russian music festival award

Vietnamese student Cao Dinh Thang was awarded third prize at a music festival in Russia for wind instruments on Tuesday.

Thang, currently a fourth year student at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, won in the category of wind ensemble harmonisation. Second prize went to two Russian contestants. No first prize was awarded.

The music festival, launched in 2013, aims to improve music training and reward the achievements of young musicians. The festival included a composition contest and a roundtable of leading music educators.
