VIFA-Expo 2015 opens

VGP – The Viet Nam International Furniture and Home Accessories Fair 2015 (VIFA-EXPO 2015)  recently took place at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City.

The VIFA – Expo 2015 was organised by the Ho Chi Minh City Handicraft & Wood Industry Association (HAWA), the HAWA Corporation and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade.

This year, the fair attracted 177 companies in the furniture, home décor, wood products and handicraft industries. Those interested can find among the exhibitors 31 overseas firms hailing from various parts of Asia, Europe, and North America.

Exhibited in the fair were classical furniture, indoor and outdoor, office  furniture, accessories and handicraft items.

Deputy head of the Handicraft and Wood Industry Association of Ho Chi Minh City Huynh Van Hanh said VIFA – Expo 2015 is a great opportunity for retailers to meet and establish relationships with local and international firms operating in wood product production, home furniture, and handicraft business.

He was upbeat that the forecasted recovery of the real estate industry in 2015 would have a positive effect on the Vietnamese wood industry.

The fair is annually organized with an aim of introducing development potential and advantages of the Vietnamese furniture industry.

In addition, the fair also help visitors seek business opportunities as it is public in newspapers and journals specializing in furniture in the US, the EU and Southeast Asian countries.

Last year, the country exported $6.23 billion worth of wood and wood products to major markets such as the US, Japan, and the EU.

Currently, Viet Nam is the second largest wood product exporter in Asia.
