VN, Thailand boost defence cooperation

VGP – The Thai military delegation’s visit to Viet Nam will contribute to promoting the friendship and mutual understanding between the two armies.

Thai Deputy PM and Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwon is leading a high-ranking defence delegation to visit Viet Nam from January 13-15 at the invitation of Defence Minister General.

At the talks, Minister Thanh said the Viet Nam visit will contribute to consolidating friendship and mutual understanding and trust between the two armies and peoples.

For his part, Mr. Prawit Wongsuwon expressed his pleasure at the comprehensive development of the bilateral ties including defence cooperation, between Viet Nam and Thailand over the past time.

He affirmed that his visit aims to further bolster friendship between the two nations and their armies in particular.

The two sides also reviewed their defence cooperation over the past time, and mapped out measures to beef up their defence cooperation in the time to come, especially in delegation exchanges, education and training, and joint patrols at sea.

Previously, the Vietnamese Defence Minister hosted a reception for the Thai delegation.
