VGP – A workshop was held in Phu Quoc Island on January 28 to discuss measures to accelerate tourism development in the three Mekong Delta localities of An Giang, Kien Giang and Can Tho.

The event was hosted by the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism with technical sponsor of the EU-Environmentally and Socially Responsible Tourism Capacity Development Program (EU-ESRT).

ESRT Program’s international expert Mr. Robert Travers suggested the establishment of special tourism centers featuring the Mekong Delta region.

To improve regional tourism products, a number of measures were proposed, including improving the quality of resorts and hotels and tours to orchards.

Earlier on October 18, 2014, the three localities signed a cooperative agreement on tourism development.
