Hoi An exhibit recalls Vietnam’s official names, capitals through history

Hoi An will open an exhibit Friday of Vietnam's many official names and capitals recorded on Nguyen Dynasty woodblocks.

32 photos, documents, and other items will describe the origin and meaning of Vietnam's official names in different historical periods, for example: Dai Viet during the Ly, Tran, and Le dynasties, Viet Nam during King Gia Long's reign, and Dai Nam during King Minh Menh's reign.

The week-long exhibit celebrates Vietnam Cultural Heritage Week and the 19th anniversary of UNESCO's recognition of Hoi An as a world cultural heritage.
